I blame this song on Jello's country influence on me. I mean, I hate country - it's pretty much the only type of music I won't listen to. But, after being forced to stand for 8 1/2 hours in one spot to listen to 5 country musicians, and then travel for almost two weeks in a car with a country fan - a song or two may get stuck in your head. Now, realize that this is NOT me saying that I've become a country fan...it just means, this song reminds me of the road trip, and makes me wonder if guys like this still exist...or if it's just a country song, much like the chick flicks in which everything works out perfectly. I'll let you decide:
She left without leavin' a number
Said she needed to clear her mind
He figured she'd gone back to Austin
'Cause she talked about it all the time
It was almost a year before she called him up
Three rings and an answering machine is what she got
If you're callin' 'bout the car I sold it
If this is Tuesday night I'm bowling
If you've got somethin' to sell, you're wastin' your time, I'm not buyin'
If it's anybody else, wait for the tone,
You know what to do
And P.S. if this is Austin, I still love you
The telephone fell to the counter
She heard but she couldn't believe
What kind of man would hang on that long
What kind of love that must be
She waited three days, and then she tried again
She didn't know what she'd say,
But she heard three rings and then
If it's Friday night I'm at the ballgame
And first thing Saturday, if it don't rain
I'm headed out to the lake
And I'll be gone, all weekend long
But I'll call you back when I get home
On Sunday afternoon
And P.S. If this is Austin, I still love you
This time she left her number
But not another word
Then she waited by the phone on Sunday evenin'
And this is what he heard
If you're callin' 'bout my heart
It's still yours
I should've listened to it a little more
Then it wouldn't have taken me so long to know where I belong
And by the way, boy, this is no machine you're talkin' to
Can't you tell, this is Austin, and I still love you
I still love you
She left without leavin' a number
Said she needed to clear her mind
He figured she'd gone back to Austin
'Cause she talked about it all the time
It was almost a year before she called him up

This song pretty much sums up my views on country music, thank you Rascal Flatts for suming up all country songs in one:
I was sittin' on a bar stool
In a barbeque joint in Tennessee
When this ole boy walked in
And he sat right down next to me
I could tell he'd been through some hard times
There were tear stains on his old shirt and he said-
"Ya wanna know what ya get when you play a country song backwards?"
Chorus 1:
Ya get your house back-
Ya get your dog back
Ya get your best friend Jack back
Ya get your truck back-
Ya get your hair back
Ya get your first and second wives back
Your front porch swing, your pretty little thing
Your bling bling bling
And a diamond ring
You get your farm and the barn
And the boat and the Harley
First night in jail with Charlie
It sounds a little crazy,
A little scattered and absurd
But that's what you get when you play a country song backwards
Well, I never heard it said quite like that
It hit me in the face
'Cause that's where I'm at
I almost fell flat on the floor-
He said
"Wait a minute, that's not all there's even more"
Chorus 2:
Ya get your mind back,
Your nerves back
Your first heart attack back
You get your pride back,
Get your life back
You get your first real love back
You get your big screen TV
A DVD and a washing machine
You get the pond and the lawn
The bail and the mower
You get to back where you don't know her
It sounds a little crazy,
A little scattered and absurd
But that's what you get when you play a country song backwards
[Instrumental Break]
We sat there and shot the bull
About how it would be
If we could turn it all around
And change this
Ya get your house back-
Ya get your dog back
Ya get your best friend Jack back
Ya get your truck back-
Ya get your hair back
Ya get your first and second wives back
Your front porch swing, your pretty little thing

just played on my ipod, and I think I always tear up when I hear this song, no matter how many times I listen to it.
Last kiss - Pearl Jam
Where, oh where, can my baby be?
The Lord took her away from me
Shes gone to heaven, so Ive got to be good
So I can see my baby when I leave this world
We were out on a date in my daddys car
We hadnt driven very far
There in the road, straight ahead
A car was stalled, the engine was dead
I couldnt stop, so I swerved to the right
Ill never forget the sound that night
The screamin tires, the bustin glass
The painful scream that I heard last
Oh where, oh where, can my baby be?
The Lord took her away from me
Shes gone to heaven, so Ive got to be good
So I can see my baby when I leave this world
When I woke up the rain was pourin down
There were people standin all around
Something warm flowing through my eyes
But somehow I found my baby that night
I lifted her head, she looked at me and said
"Hold me darling, just a little while"
I held her close, I kissed her our last kiss
I found the love that I knew I had missed
Well now shes gone
Even though I hold her tight
I lost my love, my life, that night
Oh where, oh where, can my baby be?
The Lord took her away from me
Shes gone to heaven, so Ive got to be good
So I can see my baby when I leave this world
Last kiss - Pearl Jam
Where, oh where, can my baby be?

I know, I can't believe I'm promoting a country song...but the words are good:)
He said I was in my early forties
with a lot of life before me
when a moment came that stopped me on a dime
and I spent most of the next days
looking at the x-rays
Talking bout the options
and talking bout sweet time
I asked him when it sank in
that this might really be the real end
how's it hit you when you get that kinda news
man what'd you do
and he said
I went sky diving
I went Rocky Mountain climbing
I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named fumanchu
and I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter
and I gave forgiveness I'd been denying
and he said someday I hope you get the chance
to live like you were dying.
He said I was finally the husband
that most the time I wasn't
and I became a friend a friend would like to have
and all the sudden going fishin
wasn't such an imposition
and I went three times that year I lost my dad
well I finally read the good book
and I took a good long hard look
at what I'd do if I could do it all again
and then
I went sky diving
I went Rocky Mountain climbing
I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named fumanchu
and I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter
and I gave forgiveness I'd been denying
and he said someday I hope you get the chance
to live like you were dying.
Like tomorrow was a gift and you got eternity to think about
what'd you do with it what did you do with it
what did I do with it
what would I do with it?
Sky diving
I went Rocky Mountain climbing
I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named fumanchu
and then I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter
and I watched an eagle as it was flying
and he said someday I hope you get the chance
to live like you were dying.
To live like you were dying
To live like you were dying
To live like you were dying
To live like you were dying

Hearing certain songs always bring back a flood of memories. My life seems to have a soundtrack....and different tracks trigger events in my life.
For instance, tonight I heard the song "Entertaining Angels" and I was transported back about 7 summers ago, when us girls did a music video. Which made me think of just a few songs that produce a flood of memories.
Sarah MacLachlan brings me back to one of my break-ups
Coldplay reminds me of Alberta
Runaway Bride and Walk to Remember soundtracks surface the girl roadtrip memories
Closing Time by Semisonic - transports me to this road on the way to Balmoral....in that black car
Goodbye Earl by the Dixie Chicks - Jan-Tina's wedding, the crazy day before when absolutely everything was falling apart
Everglow by Mae - that time we drove through the night to do some photocopying job....crazy awkward inbetween moments
Neutral Milk Hotel and The Shins....good music any day of the week - though reminds me of about a year ago
500 Miles by the Proclaimers - The cottage up north...crazy times....to say the least....ahhh good memories
Mad World - new memories just starting
Death Cab for Cutie - Basically Danielle...what more can I say
Jericho by Hillary Duff - Thanksgiving up north....and way to long of a drive
Jesus Walks by Kanye West - Driving with Brandon to go camping in Alberta
Sweater by Wheezer - Sarah and Kev
Cats in the Kettle - Weird Al Yankovic - Gus
Soundtrack from Remember the Titans - a funeral of someone who I loved
Funny how that is.....just a few seconds of a song, and suddenly I am in an entirely different place.

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat
But always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances
But they're worth taking
Lovin' might be a mistake
But it's worth making
Don't let some hell bent heart
Leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out
Reconsider
Give the heavens above
More than just a passing glance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)
I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
